In 1999 The CIA formed a large taxpayer funded venture capital fund currently called In-Q-Tel. The purpose of this fund is to make technology investments that will benefit the US Intelligence community. According to the organization’s website their government partners include many letter agencies including FBI, CIA, NSA, and DHS.
The website for this organization is public and they list their portfolio by area. They list more than 750 investments spanning AI, cybersecurity, space technology, energy and life sciences.
These investments mean that much of this technology is being transferred for use by the partner agencies listed above. In-Q-Tel functions in a partially public manner, making some but not all investments known.
Definitely worth reviewing their website for your research.
