This is a very useful tip for both Android and iPhone users. Did you know that your phone has a hidden defense mode that makes it very difficult for both hackers and those with physical access to your phone to break into your phone?
When you first reboot your phone and do not type in your pin, password or use your biometric identification, your phone is in a state known as ‘Before First Unlock’. This state makes it difficult (but not impossible) for anyone, even those with physical access to your phone to be able to pull information or get access to your phone without your permission.
That’s it, no special procedures needed, just reboot your phone and don’t log in after that to enter this special defense mode. You may want to keep this in mind in situations where you are in danger of losing possession of your phone or you have to leave your phone behind for some reason.
Android recently announced a feature where it will automatically reboot the phone after it has been on the lock screen for 3 days. However, you are free to perform a reboot at any time to take advantage of this mode for both Android and iPhone.
